Terms of use

Last updated 5 October 2026

These are the terms for using Tactic Rush (tacticrush.com). By playing, creating an account or buying something you agree to them. They are written to be read: if something is unclear, write to support@tacticrush.com.

Who we are

Tactic Rush is run by the operator of tacticrush.com ("we", "us"). Contact: support@tacticrush.com.

Who can use the site

  • Tactic Rush is for players aged 13 and over.
  • You can play without an account. Accounts are only for people aged 13 or over; the sign-up form checks this.
  • If you are under 18, read these terms with a parent or guardian, and ask them before you buy anything.

Playing without an account, and accounts

  • Without an account your progress belongs to the browser you play in. If you clear the browser's data, use another device or the browser forgets its cookies, that progress can be lost and we cannot restore it.
  • With an account your progress is kept with the account. Signing up keeps the progress you already made in that browser.
  • Use an email address you can read, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
  • An account is for one person. Do not sell, lend or give it to someone else.
  • You can stop using the site at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy).

Fair play and acceptable use

Please do not:

  • cheat: use a chess engine, a script, a bot or any other tool to solve rated puzzles, to raise your rating or rank, or to collect coins, energy or rewards;
  • send our servers made-up results, tamper with the game's requests, or try to get rewards the game did not give you;
  • interfere with the site, overload it, probe it for weaknesses, or get around its limits (including the energy and rewarded-video limits);
  • copy the lessons, puzzles or artwork in bulk, or use the site for a commercial purpose, without our written permission;
  • choose a handle that is offensive, that pretends to be someone else or that pretends to be us;
  • use the site in a way that breaks the law.

If you break these rules we may reset a rating or rank, remove you from the leaderboard, change or remove a handle, take back rewards that were not fairly earned, or suspend or close the account.

Energy, XP, coins and items

  • Energy, XP, levels, coins, season points, badges, piece sets, boards, animations and every other in-game item are part of the game. We give you a personal permission to use them in the game; you do not own them.
  • They have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money, sold, or transferred to another player or account.
  • Coins are earned by playing and are not sold. The only coins that come with a purchase are the fixed 500 in the Starter Pack, shown on its card.
  • Nothing in the game is random for money: every product and every season reward is fixed and shown before you pay or play for it.
  • Nothing you can buy changes your rating, your rank or your place on the leaderboard.
  • We tune the game as we learn: what things cost in coins, what a level unlocks, how much energy a day gives (5 today) and what is earned for what may change. We will not take away an item you paid money for, except when the payment is refunded or reversed, or as these terms say.

Purchases

Tactic Rush is free to play. This part explains what you can buy, what it costs, how it renews and how to cancel or get your money back.

Who can buy

Purchases need an account, and accounts are for players aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before you buy anything. A parent or guardian who finds a purchase their child made without permission can ask for it to be refunded.

What is sold

  • Tactic Rush Plus: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. The Supporter tier is $9.99 a month and has the same benefits plus a badge and a title. The membership page lists what a member gets.
  • The premium season track: $3.99, one payment, for the current season only. It does not renew. It is included in the membership.
  • The Starter Pack and the bundles in the store (Neon Nights, The Dojo, Marble Hall): one payment each, from $4.99 to $9.99, with their contents listed in full on each card.

Everything sold is cosmetic or a convenience. The price and what you get are always shown before you pay. The prices on the site's pages at the time you buy are the ones that apply.

Prices, tax and payment

Prices are in US dollars. Any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live is shown on the payment page before you pay, so the total you confirm there is the total you are charged. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own checkout page; we never see your card number. The checkout page and your receipt name the seller.

Renewal and cancelling

  • A membership renews automatically at the price shown when you joined, every month or every year depending on the plan, until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time on the membership page with "Manage or cancel membership". Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep the member benefits until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • When a membership ends, members-only looks stop being available and the premium lane of the season track closes for rewards you have not claimed yet. Everything you already claimed from a season track stays yours.
  • The Founding Member badge, given for a membership started during the founding period shown on the membership page, stays on your account after the membership ends, for as long as the account and the service exist.
  • One-time purchases (the premium season track, the starter pack, the bundles) do not renew. There is nothing to cancel.

Refunds and the right to withdraw

  • If you bought something by mistake, or it does not work, ask within 14 days and you get your money back.
  • If you live in the EU, the EEA or the UK you have a legal right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. Ask, and it is refunded.
  • When a one-time purchase is refunded, the items it gave are removed and the coins it gave are taken back (as many as are left). When a premium season track is refunded, the premium lane closes; rewards you had already claimed are not taken away.
  • A refund goes back to the payment method you paid with.
  • If a payment for a one-time purchase is disputed with the bank or card issuer and reversed (a chargeback), the purchase is treated as refunded in the same way, automatically. Please write to us first: it is quicker.

To ask for a refund or for help with a purchase, write to support@tacticrush.com from the email address of your account, and say what you bought and when.

Rewarded videos

Some rewards (lesson energy, one revive per run, doubled coins) can be had by choosing to watch a short video to its end. Watching is always optional, the video can be closed at any time (closing early gives nothing), there is a limit of 5 energy videos a day, and members get the same rewards without a video. The videos shown today are the site's own demonstration ads for invented products, labelled "Sponsored (demo)".

Beta features and changes to the game

Parts of the game are marked "beta". They may change a lot, be reset or be removed. We may add, change or remove features, lessons and puzzles, and the site may sometimes be unavailable.

Who owns what

  • The site, its name, its code, its lessons and explanations, its artwork, animations, sounds and videos belong to us or are used under licence. Some of the artwork was created with AI image tools.
  • You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial play. That permission ends if you break these terms.
  • Chess moves and positions themselves are free for anyone to use; our way of presenting, explaining and arranging them is ours.
  • If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
  • If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, write to support@tacticrush.com with the details.

Other services

Payments are handled by Stripe, under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for services we do not run.

No guarantees

Tactic Rush is a game for learning and enjoying chess. We work to keep the lessons correct (every line is checked by a chess engine before it is published) and the site running, but we provide it "as is": we do not promise that it will always be available, free of mistakes, or that playing will improve your chess or your rating elsewhere. Ratings and ranks on Tactic Rush are the game's own and are not official chess ratings.

Our responsibility to you

  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law of your country gives you as a consumer and that cannot be given up, and nothing limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited.
  • Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, for lost progress or virtual items caused by clearing a browser's data or losing access to an account, or for indirect losses.
  • If something you paid for does not work, tell us and we will put it right or refund it as the Purchases part says.

Ending

  • You can stop using the site whenever you like and ask us to delete your account. Cancel a membership first, so it does not renew.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
  • When an account is closed, its progress and items go with it.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is posted here, with its date, before it applies. If a change affects a membership you are paying for, it applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator of the site is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
